- I have downloaded PCLinuxOS 2010 (XFCE Phoenix Edition), installed it on VirtualBox, it booted and it installed, I tried to create a remaster using mylivecd, it created an ISO, but this ISO does not boot, hanging on udev.

- I have burned the original downloaded iso on cd, tryed to boot it on native hardware (Dell Vostro 1720 laptop), but didn't boot.

- I have downloaded AGAIN another ISO, thinking my first download could have been corurpted.

- Booted live in VirtualBox, it booted, installed it, it installed it, but the installation does not boot, it gives a Kernel Panic error.

- On real hardware, this download does not work either.

Its not a problem with my burner, cause ISO images of PCLOS2009.4, Puppy Linux, and all the rest works...

----------
The console logs (while booting press ESC [verbose mode] ) is not aligned, the text starts near to [   OK    ], which is not nice to read, PCLOS 2007, 2008 MiniME, and 2009 never had this problem.

I don't know if others have these problems, but as I have read PClinuxOS 2010 should boot 50% than before, I would like to enjoy this speed, but this still looks a beta for me.

What to do???

Hardware I tried:

Dell Vostro 1720 laptop
Intel Core 2 Duo (around 2 GHz I think)
2 GB RAM

Desktop PC
AMD Sempron 3000+ (around 1.8 Ghz) - its also a 64 bit processor
1,2 GB RAM (1GB + 256 MB)

Have you done an md5sum check on the iso? Have you tried downloading from a different source?

And as to your question re beta, other people don't appear to be having the problems your are encountering in all your many installations.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why you would run mylivecd in a VBox install.  If its to re-use your install you can just keep (or copy) your VBox VDI file and use again and again.  Remember a VBox install is a completely different beast than an install on your hard drive.

After watching you install from outside sources, attempt to install from outside rpms and attempt to mix packages from the 2009 and 2010 repositories, I would have to guess that what you are trying to remaster isn't PCLinuxOS any more at all.  It's now BPsoftware.beta.1.iso and you own it.

Joble, the other posts are of another installation, what I have described above was done on a clean virgin installation. I am still trying this moment right now.

I am not sure if others would agree with me but its pretty standard that after a virgin installation, you must update and then install all upgrades.

That doesn't undermine the quality of this distro, but actually shows how progressive is its development.

IMHO. :)

Hum,  I updated my test install yesterday, added a newer kernel, uninstalled older kernel, cleaned up my install a bit with bleachbit, and remastered.. New ISO created boots fine and runs fine.  So, maybe the MyliveCD isn't the problem??  :-\ :-X :-[

Just a little problem with video on a HP dv5000 laptop (ATI, you know) but is solved now. The monitor still has the wrong resolution and I will try to fix it this weekend.

Nothing worth of mentioning really, is solid, and yesterday my kids can make a little network to play which I think means easy of use  ;D

Use the Live CD you downloaded, check in Configure your Computer - Hardware if all your hardware is recognized, install and update all

If you had problems in the past try to boot the live cd using vesa drivers and see if you can install the appropriate drivers later
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

I created 2 remasters yesterday. On one I really played with it. ;D ::) ;) Even that ISO was created without errors and booted fine on 3 different computers.

My reading is that the OP is doing a "mylivecd" inside a VBox install - i.e. in the VDI HDD

OK people, thanks for the answers, well what I will do is download again another iso, burn it on a virgin media, and try to install it on a physical machine again, and if this time it fails, I will borrow a camera from someone and make a video of what I am installing.
Using something else than XFCE is not a choice, GNOME and KDE are to heavy, JWM to simple, LXDE not ready, I never tryed ZEN, but reading its based on GNOME, I am not sure I will like it, my best experiences ar ewith XFCE.
I will try again the installation and let you know...

Bye

Well bad things can happen sometimes .....  I tried most of the releases yesterday, and Xfce for some reason could not find a suitable driver for my card. I got a log in prompt and had to use PCC from there to get the video up and log in. Then there was no audio.

Strange that as Openbox, KDE, Zen, Lxde and E17 all got to the desktop without problems.

No I did not spend any time seeking a reason .......  and I am sure there must be one ......  as I was testing all 6 releases and did not have time to spend on it.

I might get to have another look this week.

Was just pointing out that sometimes things can go wrong .....

Again I downloaded the ISO, again i burned it on a brand new CD-R, i burned it using Nero at the lowest speed, I have booted on my AMD 3000+ (single core 64 bit - 1GB +256 MB RAM) the Live CD boots, I don't try much, I start the installation. Installation goes fine.
I still haven't tryed my laptop, and still haven't tried MyLiveCd, I will do that soon and let you know...
