Gentlemen,

I installed yesterday PCLOS 2010 E-17 version, and I'm having headaches with the menus. Enlightenment got the menus from the previous PCLOS 2009 install, but many programs don't work. And, it's a menu issue, since I type then in the terminal and they run just fine.
I'm having a lot of trouble to edit the application menus, so I ask: Is there a program to edit menus on E-17 like there is in KDE ???
Many programs don't run, is there anything I can do about it ?
An other issue is the sis tray, which doesn't behave as it did in KDE 3.5. Programs like WICD don't start in the sis tray. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue ???

Well, many thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Can you explain that a little more?

The apps menu was like, inherited from PCLOS 2009, its structure, to PCLOS 2010. And, when I click on gaupol  it doesn't run. If I open a terminal and type $ gaupol, it runs fine.  Kaffeine, the same thing. In wine menu, apps that I removed long time ago, are back, and I have no clue how to clean the menu from them.
Wicd doesn't start in sis tray, and some other apps, like Skype and aMSN refuse to go to sis tray.
I'm new to Enlightenment, that's the reason of all these troubles. I found it very clean, fast and beautiful, so I want to make it work, but so far, I'm having a hard time with it.
Hope someone can help me... ;)

Have you brought any settings/folders from the 2009x install to your new E17 setup?

Well, when the install program ended, it asked if I wanted to keep the menu configuration from version 2009, and I chose to keep the menu. But now, many apps don't run from the menu, but run from terminal.
And... Any ideas about the sis tray ??? ?
Many thanks in advance.

hehe, the sys tray does take some getting used to.  I haven't played with it enough to be able to give you an answer though, but there are plenty of others in the E17 Club who can.

I'm into Xfce currently but the themes produced for E17 made me try it out.

What is installed? Pclos 2010, using Pclos 2009 /home? How did you install e17? On a separate partition or with task-enlightenment?

PCLOS 2010 with /home from previous version, 2009, with all the .hidden config files from 2009 version...

and e17? as task-enlightenment? You must have quite a mess. Why don't you start from scratch? Install 2010.1 and than e17 task-enlightenment or make dual boot-2010/e17.

I'm thinking he's got such a mess going on there that it isn't going to work.  Every person who asked about installing PCLinuxOS 2010 was told the same thing.. FRESH INSTALL.  Unfortunately you didn't do that, and now you have a mess.  Unless you reinstall all those programs and the application is added to the menu, you will have to add each program to the menu individually using  Menu >Settings > Menus.

It's either that or start from scratch.  Many of the application in the 2010 have different configurations settings as well.

Sorry  :-[ :-X :-\

Well, I'm thinking about wipe out the menus section. I have found, it's located in /home/.config/menus . So, if I delete it and install 2010 E-17 over it, I guess it will solve the menu problems. And then, there are the .desktop files, they're in .local/share/applications.

So far, these are the only ideas I got...  :-[

Well, if you want to have fun....But more deeper you'll go, more you'll get stuck. 2009 is history. As linuxera said, if you want to use 2010 you must make a fresh installation.

Edit: make backup!

Well, It started to work... With the Wine menu, at least. Now, I'll log off and on again to see if the changes I made in the other menus will work.
Nice folks, you did not help me too much, but it was a fun company to this trouble... :DDDDD

Maybe it's not much help because you're not following the advise given?
