Then you could go into PCC and give it a permanent mount point and then adjust the path in the desktop settings to the new one. That should ensure the drive is mounted before KDE starts. However, you would then get an error if you ever booted without it attached.

Gooday kjpetrie. I bit the bullet and loaded them on to the hard drive. It has left enough room to operate and I can store other files on the ext1tb unit.
