Multiple virtual-desktops in lxde?
« on: May 05, 2010, 01:43:09 PM »
I've just been looking at a site describing multiple virtual-desktops in lxde, but unfortunately it didn't say how to actually change the settings (from the standard single desktop). Is this possible in lxde-2010 and, if yes, how? Thanks.

I thought lxde in pclos 2010 had two desktops by default. My virtualbox install has.

satuser083, move your mouse over a blank spot on the desktop and scroll the wheel if you have one.  ;)

If you haven't got a mouse wheel, look at the taskbar for two rectangles side by side - one blue and the other grey. Click the grey one to change desktops.

Or,,,,,  if for some reason you don't have the two rectangles side by side, you can right click the panel, Add/Remove Panel items, click on add, Desktop Pager.

I had removed mine because no like-y the looks.  ;)

Well, I don't know quite what I'm doing wrong, but when I add a Desktop Pager it's also desktop 1; I can add as many as I like but they're all labelled desktop 1.

And, kjpetrie, there's no grey rectangle on my panel, only a single, blue one.  Strange?? :o

I just booted the LXDE LiveCD and only see the one desktop like you said. Goto:

Start Button (PC)  > More Applications > Configuration > Configure Your LXDeskop > Configure Openbox > Desktops

It will show 2 desktops. Change to 3 then back to 2 or whatever you want and you should see them.

Why ??? Don't know
