I've set up a NAS-to-USB device that has an embedded Samba Server. I can see the server name under PCC, but I can't mount the share using the server name:
i.e. mount //servername//folder /media/nas gives me a "could not resolve host name" error. However I can mount the share using the server's ip address. That'd work except if I have to reboot the server or router the ip address changes.
How can I mount the smb share using the server name instead of the ip address?
The other issue is my file transfer rate. On my wife's Windows machine transferring to and from the smb server is fairly good. For example, a small 2mb file can be saved from her machine to the server in a few seconds or so. On my machine it can easily take 10 - 15 minutes or so.
Any recommendation on either (or preferably both) of these issues?
Thanks,
