Neal
Thanks, your information started me thinking again and I have searched on the internet to get some background story and I will leave just one link for an easy history overview. The link is meant for my own short term memory so when I return to this topic in the future I can pick up again  :)

1.. What was used previously to xz
2.. As I read there may be a move to use xz in the future, I guess there is a hope then that VariCAD can be talked into doing xz, I will ask them.
3.. Was xz supposed to handle lzma.

My Update on CAD program, VariCAD

It is some time since I have had time to look at re-installing VariCad. I have been using it both for mechanical work (small house extension) and for electronics (in educational aspect for myself).

Since I have just downloaded an upgrade to VariCad I decided to do a quick check on the installation.  The LZMA problem I and others have encountered, now seems to have gone.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Started KDE-mini 2011.07 LiveCD and done an install to test and it works very well.  I have not tested the 2012 VariCad-Viewer yet.

To install:

rpm -ivh /Data/xVariCAD-originals/VariCAD_2010-en-3.00-1.i586.rpm

Then entered license details, ready to use.
