Is it the same on the Gnome desktop?
Is what the same? The Configure Your Desktop >> Advanced User Settings commands or the blank screen problem?
If you are referring to the blank screen problem, I don't really know, but I don't think
so otherwise it would of been reported.
Did you try the "powerdevil" option?
Have you checked you have the correct graphics driver installed and setup properly?
Did you try the hibernate, sleep, or suspend as you mentioned earlier - if yes, with what results?
Have you tried any of the following?
Configure Your Desktop >> Advanced User Settings >> Power Management >> Edit Profiles >
On the Screen Tab have you tried enabling/disabling the "Enable Display Power Management" option?
On the Actions Tab there is an option to "Disable desktop effects if active" - not sure whether thats worth a try.
And there are other options which may be worth giving a whirl
