Unable to download OOo SOLVED
« on: May 04, 2010, 07:57:44 AM »
When i click on 'Get OpenOffice " it don't start downloading...
Something in Synaptic ? I get a message that the temp RPM in synaptic is not good.
I indicated that temps must be cleaned when the computer starts up.
Can i download it in Konsole, and how to do it... I don't have an idea.
Greetings,
Pencil1

Get Openoffice should already exist in the start menu, under Office. If it does, have you run the application from there?

One related point, which repository are you using?

Uncheck the clean temp option, reboot and run getopenoffice again.

Glad you have managed to get OO installed. Can you edit the title in your first post to include the word SOLVED.

I am too late to suggest this http://download.openoffice.org/other.html#tested-full

Today I got to know downloading open office directly from there and installing does no harm to your system.

why would you want to manually download, install, and configure a PCLinuxOS-unsupported OO-version while you already have an easy, user-friendly, GUI-interface for the complete management of the PCLinuxOS-supported, pre-configured, and enhanced OO-version ???   ::)

taelti,

We don't recommend downloading and installing applications from outside sources on the forum unless you are in the advanced user's section.

The reason being is applications need to be compiled against our current tool chain. To install some package or application from an outside source could very well bork your whole install and then you might come back and say.. This OS isn't working for me, and we wouldn't be able to help you or fix what's wrong in the package.  SO, please in the future.. If you download something from an outside source.. use it and be happy, but please... first check the PCLinuxOS repositories and see if it's there.  You also have GetOpenOffice in the main menu of PCLinuxOS which will download and install (As pinoc so aptly put it) PCLinuxOS-supported, pre-configured, and enhanced OO-version.

Thanks, and have a wonderful day!! ;)

It was my error installing OOo...
But i did a fresh install on the Mac and ALL works well now, even the Dutch language.
I am very pleased with pcLOS and gonna install it to on my wife's computer, now she takes mine...
