do_IRQ: 0.83 error - Not properly solved !
« on: May 04, 2010, 05:24:29 AM »
Hello all.
Not sure if this should go in this forum or Tips and Tricks, but I am not yet convinced that the problem is
solved, so not ready for Tips and Tricks. Maybe shouldn't go in Tips and Tricks anyway. Can anyone
advise me ?

In previous posts to this forum I have mentioned that I keep getting an error :
Message from syslogd-at-localhost at Date and Time
localhost klogd: do_IRQ: 0.83 No irq handler for vector (irq -1)

I have been googling and trying other forums, and received a suggestion that I try switching off ACPI.
Just for interest I typed acpi -V in a terminal and received the following :
No support for device type: power_supply
No support for device type: power_supply
No support for device type: thermal
No support for device type: thermal

I followed the advice and switched off ACPI. So far, after a couple of hours running,
I have not received the do_IRQ message.
Hopefully this has sorted it out. If so, I will come back in a day or two and mark the problem solved.

Tried switching off ACPI. Did not get any do_IRQ errors, but PCLos would not shut down !
OK rebooting, but on shutdown just sat there spinning the disk until I powered off. Disk
spins when I shut down with ACPI on, but it does shut down.
