!SOLVED! Flash not working in lxde !SOLVED!

I wanted to watch a news video and was greeted with "missing flash plug-in". I went to synaptic and installed flash-player-plugin 10.0.45.2 pclos2010 which is the same plug-in asked for at the news site.
I installed and site didn't work. I restarted Firefox and still NO go. I rebooted and still No action. I uninstalled and re-installed flash through synaptic. Still no good. I also installed swfdec-mozilla (Mozilla compatible plugin for Flash rendering) and that didn't work either.
Ideas anybody?

What are you seeing when you get to the Fox news site ?

Do you have any Firefox script blocker addons?

When I am at the Fox site, I see a black box where the video should play but no video. I have no script blockers installed as yet.

The Fox site is extremely slow loading here, but it plays. CNN plays as it should.

try the mplayer plugin ..restart FF

Ok then, I installed the mplayer from synaptic and after restarting FF I checked the plug-ins and mplayer is there.
Still no go on cnn or fox. When in cnn, the video square shows this dialogue;
This CNN feature is optimized for Adobe Flash Player version 9 or higher and then has a download link.

open firefox and type "about:config" and look for flash plugin version, what version do you see? can you play youtube videos? both videos play fine here ..

This is what I found at about:config. Also, no video at Youtube plays for me.
