PCLOS 2010/Gnome -- No Audio
« on: May 03, 2010, 02:38:00 PM »
This is on a MSI K9VGM-V mainboard using the Via 8237A chipset. I added a pci Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live card, but no change. If I run alsaconf, the audio works great with either the built in AC-97 or SB audio. But it has to be run after every boot. Is there a way to make the alsaconf settings permanent? Or a way to have alsaconf run automatically w/o keyboard input on each boot? (I'm asking about command line parameters here, not how to autorun.)

TIA,
John

Welcome to the Forums jgr!

I haven't had to play with alsa to much but I'm sure someone around here must have dealt with a similar issue at some point.

Have you tried setting the sound in the control center?
There is no shame in saying "I don't know".

Yes I have. The problem is that the settings do not stick through a reboot.

Thanks,
John

Have you tried logging in as root to make the changes?
