Dell Studio 1535 wireless card
« on: May 03, 2010, 12:47:22 PM »
Hello,

I am having problems with my Dell Studio 1535 wireless card and PCLOS 2010.

The wireless card is activated and works correctly only if it is switched on before loading PCLOS. In case I boot the system with wireless off and then decide to switch it on, the wireless does nothing. Also the led doesn't turn on.

This problem already appeared with the beta1 of PCLOS 2010, I hoped with final version they would have solved but unluckily nothing changed.

With PCLOS 2009 instead there is no problem.  ???

Is there some settings to be changed for PCLOS 2010 ?

Thank you  :)

You might try a different kernel, maybe the current one isn't recognizing your switch.

I hate switches.

Just to support Joble's mentioning a different kernel - I need 2.6.33.2 to support my Ralink wireless chip, 2.6.32 doesn't work at all here.

As far as I know, there've been many enhancements regarding wireless drivers in 2.6.33, so maybe you'll also have more luck with it.

Hello, I followed your advice and tried the 2.6.33.2 and 2.6.31.12 kernels.

They both didn't solve the problem but the 2.6.33.2 had a strange consequence: after installing and restarting the computer, the arrow of the mouse disappeared  ;D

After removing it  the mouse was visible again. To be sure it was related with that particular kernel I repeated the installation 2 more times and got the same strange result.
