Tried again with "remasterme --lzma" and no, It fails the exact same way.

Quote
> Error! Warning, installation of driver failed...
(press <enter> to proceed)
Please wait: Detecting USB mass-storage devices.
cat: can't open /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info/info' : no such file or directory...
Error: No suitable media for the livecd content found.
Workaround: Copy the content of the livecd from your boot device to an IDE/SATA disk,
Dropping you to a limited shell.

I really need a powerful hint here.

Unless you edited it to remove it, the remasterme script uses lzma already. The exact mylivecd script used in it is
Code: [Select]
mylivecd --md5sum --lzma --bootloader iso pclinuxos-2010.isoNote the --lzma.

That error is about your media drive. What type CD/DVD drive are you using? Is it blu-ray? SATA?

I'm booting from an IDE DVD-ROM. 2 different drives on 2 different machines and they both end the same way. I get the same message when I try to boot the .iso in VBOX. I have no problem burning or booting the official PCLOS releases just the remaster.

How do I find out the cause of the driver installation failure?

The driver that isn't loading is the driver for your CD drive. Unless there was some change to it, it should be working. ???

It's definitely trying to load the correct driver...  The first error message tells me to use <ALT-F3> for bug reporting, but it would never works except In VBOX it does. I can't read the whole output but its alot of...
Quote
warning: unable to get module filename for (somefile)
needs (somefile)
error reading (somefile): no such file or directory
warning, insmod failed ((somefile)) (-1)
stage1: disconnecting life support systems
loading modules dependencies
loading modules descriptions
/lib/modules/2.6.32.11-pclos2/modules.descrition: No such file or directory
Over and over again in blocks all for different modules. ie: loop, squashfs, unionfs, media adapters....

Is your system fully updated?
Have you tried a different kernel? 2.6.33 for example.

Fully updated,

I installed kernel 2.6.32.11-pclos2 and kernel source via synaptic, patched it and re-installed.

A thought occurred to me on my drive in to work this morning, since i patched the kernel could my troubles be the result of a dead symbolic link somewhere?

Could be. You might want to check what your patch changed or left out.

You may also want to try kernel 2.6.32.12.
