Starting GIMP
« on: May 02, 2010, 04:16:53 PM »
Hi,

Installed Pclos2010 in record time with no problems at all :D
Only one little thing, I can't start gimp.
Error message when trying in Konsole-

** Message: Module '/usr/lib/gegl-0.1/ff-load.so' load error: /usr/lib/gegl-0.1/ff-load.so: undefined symbol: avcodec_decode_video2

Tried re-installing in Synaptic, now i'm stuck for ideas, has anyone else found this issue?

This the one?

[polack@littleboy ~]$ gimp
** Message: Module '/usr/lib/gegl-0.1/ff-load.so' load error: /usr/lib/gegl-0.1/ff-load.so: undefined symbol: avcodec_decode_video2

I get it too, obviously, but gimp starts and runs just fine. Hadn't noticed this before, because I usually start gimp by right clicking a graphic file and selecting Open With --> Gimp.

Do you get any other error messages?

Yes, same problem here but not on all boxes  ??? The one with the problem also won't let start Gimp by right clicking a picture and "open with Gimp".  Reinstall didn't do it. I might try a fresh OS install but for now .... nada Gimp!

I really use GIMP and I only get this message from when I start it from Konsole, doesn't seem to interfere with GIMP though, it's been running smooth for me.

The first i noticed was when I tried right clicking on a picture from digicam as I would usually. At first I thought it was because I'd clicked on a RAW image which sometimes would not open with Pclos09. So for me it won't work any way. I remeber having a similar problem last time

Is this related d'you think?

Someone posted that in the April screen shots thread, after using it as a background for his desktop. Sorry, but I don't recall the poster. If you like it and want it, check that thread. It just happened to be in the directory I was in when checking to see if my gimp installation had the same problem you reported.

Edit:

Found it.
