I just about lost my cool.

I made dvd backups of everything I have to finally prepare to install 2010 kde on my laptop. I made very large tar.gz files to get more on each disk. I also had pictures and videos that were already fully compressed, so I copied them as they were. K3b automatically asked to make a udf file system to accommodate these files. I said ok. After wiping out the hard drive, installing 2010, and then reinstalling all of my personal stuff, the system could not recognize my dvd's. I ran PCC from the command line and discovered that it wanted udftools. I installed it and my dvd's were recognized just fine.
This was no big deal for me, but for someone doing this for the first time, it could be very distressing. I recommend udftools be included on the next livecd.
