Since I need a USB connection to the Virtualbox, will installing the current version of Virtualbox 3.1.6 (for PCLinuxOS 2007) be compatible for PCLinuxOS 2010?

If you mean the one on www.virtualbox.org, the answer is yes. I've been using it for a week or so.
