Wacom Tablet Control Panel
« on: April 30, 2010, 10:40:34 PM »
Have installed pclinux (lxde version) on an IBM Thinkpad T42 with 2d graphics in mind. Am very happy with it so far. I was especially suprised to see the Wacom Tablet work out of the box. In the Synaptic Package Manager I noticed the recommendation of the linuxwacom-controlpanel package so I installed that as well.

I do like to change the settings from default on all my wacoms to remove buttons/strip and eraser functionality and to set the active area a little bit smaller than actual default active area (so the pen does not reach the edge of the wacom tablet when I reach the edge on the display/canvas.

Anyways, the point is; I can't seem to find the control panel UI on the system... I did precursory searches on google, on this forum, on the wacom project website, did not see anything mentioning where the control panel (is it gui?) would be located.

I don't use lxde or have a Wacom, so this is just a thought, but would it worth trying to run it from a Konsole and see if it opens a Control Panel

There is an Answer on Wacom questions, item 4 on page 105 from Linux Format LXF137, Wacom Bamboo fun, with xorg.conf settings.

    Ed,

Thanks for your help.  However I think you may have misunderstood my problem.  I do not have a Bamboo tablet.  I have the original Wacom Graphire and have no problems with it working. My only problem is that the wacom control panel does not function even though it is in synaptic it is missing a component.  I only need the control panel to help define how my tablet functions.

    Thanks for your efforts,
    MCP

The problem is that the program is trying to find the file libwacomxi.so, which isn't installed on the system.  As far as I can tell the packs in Synaptic don't have that file.  Instead it's found in some old X11 file (some input file) which isn't in Synaptic any more.
