Gramps ver 3.2.2 has a problem generating HTML pages
« on: April 30, 2010, 06:14:01 PM »
After installing PCLinuxOS2010, I noticed Gramps version was 3.2.0.  I had no problems with it or the next version 3.2.1; however, I am having trouble with version 3.2.2. It seems that it has problems generating the WEB Html pages.  Mine locks up and advises to report a bug, which I have done.  I would like to reinstall version 3.2.1 or even 3.2.0 but I don't know how to accomplish this task.  Is there an easy way to get this done??

I have solved my problem.  I was able to download the an older version from--
http://ftp.riken.go.jp/archives/Linux/pclinuxos/apt/pclinuxos/2010/RPMS.main/
 and retrieved--
gramps-3.2.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm

I know it reportedly has a few bugs;but, it will print the web pages without crashing.

Glad you have your problem solved. I'm just starting into using Gramps. How exactly do you generate Web html pages? If you will walk me through the menu, I'd like to try it on my machine.

Hi cylverbak:
Generating the pages is simple.  At the top you click on "Reports" then "Web Pages" and last "Narrated Web Site".  You will have several choices to make. You will select a folder to place the generated pages into.  I use /home/username/NWEB as my folder.  This will generate all the html pages for your genealogy.  To view them,  open the index.html in your browser.  It really does a nice job laying it out.  There are extensive directions at http://gramps-project.org/ .  I have been using it several years now and have a very extensive collection of relatives.

Good Luck

Thanks bullet_trap.

I'm using Gramps 3.2.2-1.  I've only got 65 people in the database at the moment. Webpage generation was un-eventful. Wonder if it has something to do with the size of the database? And you're right. It makes for a very nice layout.

Gramps is not as intuitive as I would like but I'm slowly managing to find my way around it. I've done the easy stuff already. Have to hit a library and find out how I proceed from here to get more indepth stuff. Nobody around to talk to anymore so it's going to be entirely paperwork.
