Hi frank392,

Have you add the USB device to the VM ?

Select your VM, click Settings > USB > make sure the controller is ticked and also you should be able to add your devices as well.

Hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs  ;D

for licensing reasons, virtualbox in the repository does not support usb devices. You will have to install pclinuxos version from virtualbox website if you want it.

There is a hack somewhere on this forum that will allow you to use usb devices with the version in the repository. Never used the hack and have no idea where it.

Assuming you have the version of VirtualBox from the Sun site installed:
Run VirtualBox but don't start the virtual machine (Windows or whatever).
Click on Settings (The gear wheel)
Click on USB
Ensure that the check boxes for Enable USB Controller and Enable USB 2.0 Controller are checked.

Hope that helps.

Not that I am condoning running apps from outside the repos, but I have consistently run the Vbox package for PCLOS from the Vbox website with great success in the past.

I have not tried it with the latest release of PCLOS 2010 and have not checked since the release so there may not even be an updated package for PCLOS yet.

I always had lots of trouble with usb devices until I stumbled on a forum comment that your pclos platform & your vbox system vie for mounting it. Once I grasped that concept I could manage usb's more easily.

So, after you enable usb in your vbox/settings tab, start your vbox guest & plug in your usb. Your PCLOS device notifier will recognise it, but ignore that or esc it, & click devices in your guest system's vbox frame & you should see your recently plugged device, tick it & it should mount.

btw, this is with the Sun version, 3.1.6 v59338
