Addlocale and a mistake (SOLVED)
« on: April 29, 2010, 09:00:42 PM »
I was using addlocale to translate KDE4 to spanish, there is a message that I didn't read at all (not glasses) with an OK button (I remembered later that something about "wait looking for palatable apps" shows at that point), pressed the button (what's a button for?  :P  ) big mistake, the process ended.

I tried to run it again and ends with this

Quote
The download of the translation archive is incomplete.  This may indicate a temporary server failure or other network problem.
Please try running addlocale again a little later and we will continue from whatever could be downloaded.

Exiting...

ended KDE4 and after the password the computer rebooted and after a long list that "I can't ..." KDE4 initiated again
Tried to erase the cache in synaptic but that didn't work

I have some parts in Spanish and other in English  any idea short of reinstall?

I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Hi Crow,

closing the information window you mentioned is not critical, but starting a new addlocale process before the old one has finished most likely screwed up things. In addition, the 'incomplete download' thingy will be fixed in the next addlocale version. For now, please try the following commands from a konsole:
1)
Code: [Select]
su -c rm -f /es_ES.tar.bz2
2) run addlocale and select "English (US) [Select to restore default]", then reboot your system, all should be in English now.
3) run addlocale and select "Spanish" and proceed as usual

hope this helps, regards,
-p.

It's OK  now, I only had to download locales for Firefox.

Thank you
