hp-setup doesn't find ppd files
« on: April 29, 2010, 10:50:35 AM »
I installed 2010 and when I went to setup my printer with hp-setup, it detects both of them but can't find the ppd files. I used CUPS and one installed fine but the other doesn't include any extra HP options. Any ideas?

Cheers.

wyohman,

I was having the same problem.

This is a step by step procedure that I used to solve it:

Sorry, I do tend to be rather verbose.

Thanks for that. CUPS worked just fine but I can't use the FAX and scanner. For some reason it finds the printer but once I go to set it up, it can't communicate. I'm going to redo my network setup and see if that doesn't fix it.

Cheers.

I do set my printers with a static IP address. That may make a difference with the fax and scanner.

I know that one time while playing with this stuff, the scanner did not work. But it was found ok from the PCC choice for instlling scanners once I got the printer installed.

This only happened one time. Later, it always just installed the scanner along with the printer.

That is why I said to experiment using the LiveCD. You always start from a known point.
