If you find that your keyboard layout is wrong in console (I don't mean one you opened from your desktop, but a pure non-X login prompt) or VT (Virtual Terminal, the ones you get when pressing ctrl-alt-1 to 6), this may help.
You should first set your keyboard preference using the PCLinuxOS "Configure your Computer", and "Configure your Desktop", or whichever GUI tools are provided on your desktop.
If it still hasn't changed, then do the following:
Login as root or su to root and run this command -
mv /etc/sysconfig/console/default.kmap /etc/sysconfig/console/disabled.default.kmap
Then reboot the machine for it to take system-wide.
