Hi, just curious if sound configuration is impacted by the desktop environment (meaning are the actual configuration apps the same or different across KDE, Gnome, LXDE, Xfce, etc)? Or is sound configuration only impacted by the kernel itself?
I have a sound problem similar to others (no internal speaker sound but headphones work fine) and web searches, forum searches and posts for assistance have not resulted in a solution. Would it be worth the time and effort to download PCLinuxOS with different desktop environments and attempt via LiveCD to duplicate or correct the problem? Or would that render the same results since the underlying kernel is the same?
Thanks! Still scratching my head on this one. I am not posting for help with the actual problem (already have posts for that), just hoping to better understand the relationship of desktop environment, user and kernel and see if this idea is worth the time.
