Mythtv 0.22 anbody ?? OR 0.23 ??
« on: April 25, 2010, 12:39:16 AM »
Hi forum
I've built a new Mythdora backend with dual tuner card, HVR 2200, running latest mythtv version 0.22.
It was quite time consuming to get the dual tuners working, but it seems mostly sorted.
Alas, now I cannot connect to mythbackend (MythDora) from mythfrontend (PCLOS) because PCLOS is still using mythtv 0.21
Yes, the 2 versions are not compatible.
I download the 0.22 source and try to compile in PCLOS but just gets errors.
Anybody else been able to do this ?
What additional packages needed ?
TIA's
BG

# ./configure

qmake for Qt4 not found. Please specify the correct qmake with --qmake=

Later
"Qt4.4 or newer is required to build MythTV."

Hi Bluegroper,

I've built mythTV 021, the current version in Synaptic, and also built mythTV 022 and passed on to contribs december last year. I'm sure it's due to the new iso's that this somewhat complicated package has not been included yet.

In the meantime, as the new iso's are built - I stepped up to mythTV 023, that is way better translated and feels smoother than 022.

The mythTV 023 is sent to contribs - and has been removed from the queue, so I expect you will find mythTV 023 anytime soon.

To answer your question, you need a rather large list of dependencies installed to be able to compile the base package and the plugins - if you are interested in the rpm building SPEC file, I'll gladly insert it here for you to look at (either use it in a packaging environment to play with it, or to see how to compile mythTV),

If you like compiling programs, I'll recommend you to setup a building environment in VMWare - just take a look at the sticky posts in 'Packagers' section - then you can help out updating and building packages from 'Package suggest' section,

cheers,
MBantz

Thanks for the tips.

Indeed it seems that mythdora/mythtv 0.23 may be the way to go.
Brief specs :
* Fedora 12 + updates
* mythtv-0.23-rc2+
* kernel 2.6.32.11-99
http://www.mythdora.com/?q=MD12.23-Release-Notes

and the clincher :
Native kernel support: The 2.6.32 kernel supports the digital portion of HVR-2250.
No additional drivers are required, but you'll still need to obtain the firmware from Hauppauge.
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-2250

I hope and assume this will apply equally to HVR-2200 and HVR-2250, although this may be relevant.
http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/linux-tutorials-guides/38864-hauppauge-hvr-2200-tuner-install-guide-4.html#58

Downloading latest Mythdora right now.
Seems I might need to use 'dora for both backend and frontend systems, since PCLOS not yet ready.
Perhaps 'dora in a VM (VirtualBox preferred), otherwise PCLOS will become (temporarily) redundant.

More thx's

Any ideas how long it might take to get into the mainstream PCLOS repos ?
Is it usually weeks or months ?
TIA's

No, sorry, it has been un-removed from the queue - there was a glitch when moving to the 2010 repo.

It's updated to the latest version and re-sent to the queue where it sits now - I hope it will hit the repos soon though,

cheers,

Please check it out and report any issues here :-)

I have it running for a week or so - without issues,
