PCLOS 2010 LXDE
I installed PCLOS 2010 LXDE in a virtual machine for some meaningful testing. I notice that no desktop icons or pop-ups appear for removable media. Browsing the web and forum seems to indicate that LXDE does not yet support these features. True?
Aslo, that PCMan file manager does not support a trash can or recycle bin.
The LXDE home page indicates that these features are available in the current alpha release. Are the PCLOS developers watching/testing this? Any idea when these features will go mainstream and be available to PCLOS users?
This is my first time using LXDE. I had read many good things about LXDE and had high hopes with that desktop for old computers.
Not having these features is not frightening to those of us who remember the days when everybody using a Linux system had to manually mount removable media and lived without any file recovery tools, but without such basic features I won't convince many non-technical people new to Linux to use LXDE. I'll have to stick with Xfce which has these features, but is a tad more heavy on old hardware.
I read in the forum that halevt might help but I have not yet tested that package.
I would appreciate some local developer insight into this issue.
