Is there no other option to record the speaker sound?

have you tried  gnome-media  which has a recorder?

For best results I use Firefox and DownloadHelper  and extract the audio after d/load is complete.

Audacity does have other options, but with the same result. I haven't tried gnome-media. Will it let me save a recording as an mp3?

I forget but it is a simple matter to change a file from one format to another.

Well, I tried gnome-media, & got the same result.... actually worse. If anyone has a solution, I'd love to hear it!

Thanx for trying JohnBoy, but I managed to resolve the issue by simply turning down the volume in YouTube!

So the Mic input was overloaded?

Apparently.... I also switched the input to "line".

Here's a sample clip, so you know what I'm dealing with....

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F88KOA9B

That doesn't help much - it's a "premium" download.  I hope you don't expect people to give out their credit card numbers and spend their own hard earned dollars to figure out your problem.

I downloaded the file without any of that.

Maybe have another look?

Nah - she solved her problem already.  I just stopped when the "Premium Download" window popped up.
