Is there no other option to record the speaker sound?

have you tried  gnome-media  which has a recorder?

For best results I use Firefox and DownloadHelper  and extract the audio after d/load is complete.

Audacity does have other options, but with the same result. I haven't tried gnome-media. Will it let me save a recording as an mp3?

I forget but it is a simple matter to change a file from one format to another.

Yes, download the video and extract the audio using pacpl afterwards.

So the Mic input was overloaded?

Apparently.... I also switched the input to "line".

That doesn't help much - it's a "premium" download.  I hope you don't expect people to give out their credit card numbers and spend their own hard earned dollars to figure out your problem.

Nah - she solved her problem already.  I just stopped when the "Premium Download" window popped up.
