Fan on full.
« on: April 24, 2010, 01:24:00 PM »
Hi
Sometimes (but not always) when I start Pclinuxos the fan goes onto full and stays there.
I think it's happening just after Grub.

I've a Aspire 7730
Intel core2 duo T5800

Do you have any other OS's installed on that system? If so does the fan speed up on that?

Have you checked that you have decent air flow? Checked for "fluff" on the outlet grids on the case?

Is this a LiveCD or an installed system? And which version of PCLinuxOS are you using?

PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

It only happens with 2010 not Vista and only sometimes.
If I restart the computer the fan runs normally.

Is PCLinuxOS installed? or a LiveCD?

And what version of PCLinuxOS are you using - You could try another kernel and see if that helps.

Did you check you case's airflow and have cleaned inside?

It's 2010 kde and installed.

So far when I restart it the fan has acted normally.
