As georgetoon I began dual booting because there was a couple of win programs I needed for work (and many games in my case), a few months ago I found the apps being supported in WINE, I'm trying to decide if I'll keep Virtual Box for MS Office 2007, probably not.

There are many games which doesn't run in WINE some run but has flaws like being unable to keep your saves, Virtual box is not good for hardware demanding games, see, windows is a toy OS, keep your dual booting and use it for playing.

As I stated before, I don't run games, I'm not a gamer. i concede the point.  Windows running in VB may not be up to spec for gaming.  But, for all other apps (Photo editing, playing DVDs, Accounting, Word processing, etc.), VB is terrific!:)

I continue to dual boot into Windows on my laptop due to possibly needing Quickbooks in a pinch at the office.
Toonfully,

Mark

georgetoon, I can tell you that I was fully able to run Solidworks (3D modeling software) in Vista in a VM.  I'm pretty sure Solidworks is far more resource intensive than anything you plan to run.

I wonder if duderanch, the OP, has tried any of our suggestions.

There is a long list of games that work on VB on the VirtualBox site here: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2525&hilit=games

Like others, I started with dual booting but now use wine for those windows apps that will run under wine and VB for others such as TomTom Home, ActiveSync (for my IPAQ), Solidworks, and Autocad.

How are you getting on duderanch?
