Testers needed - drakbackup
« on: April 23, 2010, 08:21:45 AM »
I've just built drakbackup for 2010, because I'm too lazy to learn something else at the moment, and I'd be grateful if others could take a look and test it.

My SRPM is at: http://www.instabook.com/pclos/SRPMS/drakbackup-0.19.2-1pclos2010.src.rpm

and the noarch rpm is at http://www.instabook.com/pclos/RPMS/drakbackup-0.19.2-1pclos2010.noarch.rpm

I look forward to any comments.

I'll give it a spin.

It seems to work ok but the .desktop file will have to be changed.  As it is now it doesn't find a place in our menu structure.  Nice work!

Just setup a new VBox install of KDE 2010 Final and I'll give this a whirl as well (will there be any drawbacks to testing it in an VM environment ?)

Menuto:
No, it should work fine in a VM. I tested it in my build VM before I put it in my real one.

Joble:
I hadn't spotted there was a .desktop file! I have now corrected it (I think). It makes little difference as it ends with "NoDisplay=true" as it is a PCC plug-in not intended to be shown in the menu.

I could take that out, but we might have to adjust it to get it to run as root then.

The corrected version is at http://www.instabook.com/pclos/SRPMS/drakbackup-0.19.2-2pclos2010.src.rpm andhttp://www.instabook.com/pclos/SRPMS/drakbackup-0.19.2-2pclos2010.noarch.rpm.

I don't see that error here and I don't recognise what it's looking for. Could it be local to your machine?

Oh I didn't catch that.  It right there in PCC where it should be and seems to work just fine.

I'm having an awful time with VBox - it installs just fine and I can create a VM etc but as soon as I install Guest Additions the VM's just won't boot.

I've tried both the repo version and the one from the Oracle VBox web site  with the same results - not able to boot.

I have rebooted after each install to allow any necessary "re-builds"  to be carried out. Nada!!

I'm going to try installing pclinuxos-minime-2010 (instead of 2010KDE) and see if I have any luck with that.

As soon as I can get this solved I'll be able to begin the testing.

Menotu,

Pclos2010 comes with the guest additions already installed, so you don't need to install them.

It's your attempts to do so which are breaking the virtual install.

kjpetrie,

Yup - I do know that (and tried using them) but they aren't working which is why I removed it and tried doing it the other way.
