PearPC with Mac OSX
« on: April 23, 2010, 06:14:27 AM »
I need to run a free Mac program called ImageSXM (http://www.liv.ac.uk/~sdb/ImageSXM/) for analysis of pictures of malaria parasites. Unfortunately this is a Mac only piece of software so I need to run an emulator that will allow me to use this software. At first I assumed I could run Mac OSX on Virtualbox, but it doesn't seem to support that option. In fact it seems that my only option is PearPC (http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/about.html), which fortunately is in our repos. I have been working through the instructions on the pearpc website, but am having some difficulties.

I have now generated the config file (using the generator at http://www.iamthecheese.com/php/pearpc.php) and want to run the emulator. The website instructions say to type the following in the source directory:

$ src/ppc CONFIGFILENAME

Can anyone help me explain what this means? Any other advice on running this piece of software would be gratefully received.
