No desktop icons on pclinuxos kde 2010 install
« on: April 22, 2010, 01:29:35 PM »
I'm a newbie so this may be a dumb question. I have a Toshiba laptop that had pclinuxos 2009 & I just installed 2010, kde version, keeping the /home on a separate partition. I am able to access my home folders. When I boot & log in as myself I have no icons at all on the desktop, nothing on the taskbar except the PC start button lower left. If I log in as root, I have icons. Is it looking for my old desktop or does it start with default icons? Reinstall made no change. Otherwise I love the way this installed, much easier than even pclinuxos 2009.

I noticed this too, when I installed. It's not a big deal. You can just put them there yourself. Right click on any menu item in the Kmenu and you'll get choices such as "Add to Desktop" and "Add to Panel". Then, you can click on the cashew on the panel to allow you to move the panel icons to your favorite location.

Thanks for the reply. On another install I somehow picked the wrong partition for installation and ended up using my former /home partition. I didn't have anything important there anyway and now I have icons.
