Evolution restore/import [SOLVED]
« on: April 22, 2010, 08:25:38 AM »
I have backed up my Evolution data, which creates evolution-backup.tar.gz, on my PCLOS KDE3.5 desktop and tried to restore and import this this to my PCLOS 2010 laptop. Although the restore goes through the process of shutting down Evolution and restoring settings, no data is present when Evolution restarts, address book is empty. Using the Import option does allow import from Evolution to Evolution.

I have removed Evolution and reinstalled but this didn't solve the problem. What am I doing wrong?

It's a bug in Evolution.

So there is no way to resolve this at the moment?

This appears to be working. I don't know how or what I did differently to import my data but Evolution is now populated  :)

I read your post again and missed the point. So, here comes the buggy bug problem-the bug is present in the latest ver. of Evolution [2.30.0.1] when creating backup. If you try to make one, the progress window pops up, but few seconds later it disappears and nothing happens. The backup is not created.

But if the backup was created in the previous ver. of Evolution, than you can still import all the stuff back in the latest ver.

Thanks coffeetime. Just seemed odd that the first time I tried nothing was restored. I don't know if removing Evolution from my laptop and reinstalling helped but everything seems to be honky dory now.
