No Bull with new PCLOS 2010 KDE install (solved)
« on: April 22, 2010, 06:37:53 AM »
Probably an elementary fix, but I'm getting a verbose bootup; Dobie has apparently 'escaped from the ranch'.

Check your /boot/grub/menu.lst and make sure it says splash=silent not splash=verbose.

example:
kernel (hd0,4)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32.10-pclos2.bfs BOOT_IMAGE=2.6.32.10-pclos2.bfs root=UUID=ba2a471a-6050-47d3-8394-51cb0d065f3f splash=silent vga=788

If that looks ok then maybe open a terminal konsole, su to root and type switch-themes PCLinuxOS

If that doesn't work then you must have some kind of video card that plymouth bootsplash cannot use.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Hmmm...there was no 'splash' parameter in the boot line to begin with.  So having just inserted splash=silent, I'll eventually reboot and mark the topic solved, hopefully.

edit: solved by adding splash=silent.  Just a handful of lines of verbose at boot startup (unchanged from Beta 2), but Dobie has apparently been reined back into the fold! ;D

Thanks, Tex!
