Thanks for the reply, but all the distros I have ever used had vi installed, since its considered standard linux.
I realize that vim would be another install.

You are defiantly asking the wrong guy. But if I know Tex, he probably did a pole to see what editor most of us wanted. He asks and listens to us and gives us what we want.
Besides, it's a 2 minuet install to get so no biggie for me at least. I do still use vi as I am so used to it.
