Well, I was referring to this http://pclinuxrocks.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/controlcenter.jpg
I don't have that 3rd icon, but another.
I am pretty sure I saw it also on XFCE, but I may be confusing.
So, you definetly say it is not available on XFCE? And it never was?
So the only way is to do it htrough the filesystem? No tools for that?

Thanks

as I see in 2009 that was still available, while in 2010 not anymore.
Guys, I switch back to PCLOS 2009. Even if booting is faster on 2010, I really see missing pieces in 2010.

BPsoftware,

What's missing? Most everything you want/need is included. Sure, there are some different software packages used, but if you prefer some of the older choices, you can install them yourself.

As for the bootsplash, it was talked about often during the beta phase that the change was being made to Plymouth bootsplash.

If you can tell us what applications you are missing, I'm sure me or some other users will be happy to assist you in filling in the pieces.

I am missing the MOST important software that in the past let me chose for PClinuxOS. The functionality of MkLivecd (or MyLivecd) which is not working.
If there is not GUI to change the Plymouth theme, then its again a drawback.

BPSoftware,

I'm not sure about a GUI to change the Plymouth theme.

But MkLiveCD is now MyLiveCD, and is reported to be working for scores of PCLinuxOS users.

Also, a new Live USB Creator is in the works, and should hopefully be available soon.

I don't know, if the MyLiveCs problem will be solved, then I will try to change the themes as you suggested. Btw, is there not a kinda GUI program that enables me to make my own plymouth themes?

Yes, there is one. The generic name is console. ;)

As a matter of fact, it is a gui ! Else it would be a virtual console (tty) or a dos environment ? So you can choose among a few ones : konsole, gnome-terminal, xfce4-terminal, lxde-terminal, sakura, rxvt, xterm... You can even put colors in some of them, with the gui preference in their menus !!! How can you say there is no gui to configure all and everything when there is such a large choice ? Come on ! ;D

Please, open a thread about how to create your own plymouth splashscreen ! I have done one following instructions, I have opened and recreated an archive, and I still have a pair of small questions about how to do it the best way... I would be happy to follow and participate to such thread and probably it will be a very interesting one, that quite a few people might participate to. :)
