Thanks coffeetime for persisting efforts.
The required information from my PCLOS2010-KDE4.4.2 installation (where the webcam is not working) is given below.
[j@localhost ~]$ uname -r

[j@localhost ~]$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
blacklist ssb
blacklist ssb
[j@localhost ~]$ cat /etc/modprobe.preload
# /etc/modprobe.preload: kernel modules to load at boot time.

# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line. Comments begin with
# a `#', and everything on the line after them are ignored.
# this file is for module-init-tools (kernel 2.5 and above) ONLY
# for old kernel use /etc/modules

Also checked that folders
/lib/modules/2.6.32.11-pclos2.bfs/kernel/drivers/media/video/gspca/
/lib/modules/2.6.32.11-pclos2.bfs/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/
are present here.
Should I try installing kernel 2.6.33.2-pclos1.pae in PCLOS 2010-KDE4.4.2 to make work the webcam as it is working in
PCLOS 2009.2-KDE4.3.4 with kernel 2.6.26.8.tex3 or tex4?
My hardware is Intel core 2 duo 1.86 GHz.2X2 GB ddr2 667 MHz,i946GZIS with IGMA3000 & 19" wide screen LCD.
Presently 3.2 GB out of 4GB memory is utilized, but I never exceed 1.5 GB and not much inclined to install & use virtual box.
