can not connect to xp machine anymore {solved}

I have 3 computer on my network..1 pclos 2010 final and 2 xp machines..
The pclos is my main use machine and i use the xp(moon} for mainly backing up the pclos machine..
My printer is connected to the xp machine..the printer still works from my pclos machine..
i cannot acess the shared drives on the xp machine anymore.. untill yesterday i could..
i am dumb as a rock when it comes to samba.. don't know where to start
i don't want to share any files on pclos, just read and write to the xp machine from pclos
need help

the error i am getting is "time out on server moon"

You wouldn't happen to be running McAfee on those machines and they wouldn't happen to be XP SP3?  And you wouldn't happen to have updated the dat?  McAfee released a bad dat file that is giving a false positive and is taking out svchosts.exe and networking with it.

only fire was xp firewall and i turned it off

restarted so many times , i need a new finger to click restart









i know this want help but at least you will know pclos sees the other computers

...I'm guessing this was the relevent part from that link:
I also just changed the localhost as described, ran the config from the menu in Samba server in PCC - but it did not work until I installed nss_wins on the client to resolve netbios names to tcpip addresses. Now I just wonder why this is not installed as an requirement to samba-client.

nss_wins section did the trick..

now i have pclos to win 7 sharing samba and pclos to pclos nfs
