[CongratsInOrder!] Network Printing is a BREEZE
« on: April 20, 2010, 06:30:34 AM »
Hey gang!
Just wanted to give you all a big shoutout for making sure that setting up my network printing was easy!

I just turned on CUPS on both my computers, set up my HP Multifunction on one (my little NETBOX machine), and instantly my laptop can see it and print from it.

Beautiful.  This is how computing should be.

I can also see all of the printers that the MACs at work are sharing -- for some reason they can't see me.
I've yet to try printing to a printer connected via Windows networking, i'll give that a shot, once I find one that doesn't use the expensive inks at work, lol.

Oh, quick tip for using HP Multifunction printers:
Don't use the printer installer you see when you plug in the USB cable to set it up, use the HP Device Mananger -- The other installer, tho it does it's best, doesn't seem to download the driver plugin that is needed -- causing KDE apps to crash when you try to print.

Once again, thanks gang!
