kernel question
« on: April 20, 2010, 02:49:39 AM »
My machine is a AMD Athlon (TM) 64 processor 3000+  I am currently using 2.6.32.11-pclos2.bfs. Should I be using 2.6.33.2-pclos1.a64?
I can not fault the way the system is running, I just wondered.

it wont hurt trying, the a64 kernel is tuned to take advantage of features unique to that processor.

Your computer may feel slow at worst and you may not see any difference at best if you use this kernel while not using AMD processor.

if you are curious, you may try all kernels and pick one that work best with what you have.
.. 3 things are certain in life : death, taxes and software bloat ..
.. tell me something i don't know, something i can use as i struggle to reason with the world around me ..
