Why can't a live usb with persistence be made with 2010?
At least that is my understanding. I have not seen an explanation for that. If it has been posted I missed it.

I know there is no longer included on the desktop an icon to make a live usb so I was wondering how that slipped through the cracks?

Thank you for the reply Texstar.

I kind of worded that wrong. I didn't mean that it slipped through the cracks of the developers, I meant that I missed the thread where it was probably discussed. Thus it fell through the cracks on my part. With no icon to make a live usb I knew that "I" missed something. ???

I'm eager to have it fixed too. Unpacked the initrd in hopes adding the libuuid.so.1 / .2 file. But its there, and I've only modified special-purpose source code.

What was broke, and how was it fixed? Was it the kernel? Do I have to update an install and then use mkliveusb?

The GUI tool Tex referred to is for creating a live USB install.
It, of itself, has no effect on the availability of persistence. It can include it, if persistence is working, but unfortunately it is not at present.
That is a difficulty that has yet to be overcome ......  and apparently will be looked at when time allows.

I marked this as solved because Texstar addressed my initial question. That and it has been discussed in other threads.

Texstar mentioned in the following link that he may use the same package that Fedora uses to make live usb's. Persistence was mentioned in another thread and if I can find it will come back and post it.
