How do I boot to console?

Straightforward question, how do I boot to console?

Having major graphics probs with a HD install, I'm running (or rather trying to) PCLOS-E17 and the grub loader from the same distro

Select safe mode from the grub menu, this will give you a limited shell where you can issue some commands.
If you want a regular login shell with bash then issue the command init 3
You should then get to a normal command line login   HTH

When the boot menu presents itself, press the down arrow key to stop the countdown timer, Press the up arrow key to return to your boot selection. Press the F3 key then type the number 3 then press the Enter key. You should end up at a text login. If that doesn't work, try init=3. Last time I did this, I think it was just the number 3 necessary.
