Hi
Just installed PCLOS2010 and I don't have sound. I can see the speaker and mixer.

According  to Control Centre my sound driver is ALSA "snd_hda_intel" driver

Any idea why I get no sound?

Hi,

Try opening the mixer and checking that the speaker channel is enabled. If it isn't, go to Setting -> Configure Channels and add the speaker.

Hope this helps

Rick.

Sir, can you give us the exact model of your laptop?  My ACER 4726z doesn't have sound upon install, but I just tinkered with a few settings at PCC and it worked.

Sound now works. Thanks for the TIP
The Speaker setting was way too low by default. Once increased, I can hear my favorite songs again.

Should have thought of that :-[

I wish I could find the solution this end. I installed 2010 on my Samsung Q1 Tablet PC and have no audio whatsoever.  ???

Lucky you!  ;D I have not seen anybody with the speaker channel, available or visible, on 2010 Final. Can you please post a screenshot of your Kmix channels? Thanks.

Thanks Rick! Your suggestion solved my no sound on HP DV8T problem. Seems the "Front" slider controls the headphone sockets while the "Speaker" controls the speaker volume. That's makes sense.

I've got the master channel but no speaker channel. Menotu, you don't have the speaker channel either! (that I can see in your screeny) I must say though that I'm not having any sound problems either. Kmix keeps getting curiouser and curiouser.

I installed 2010 KDE-minime. Had a weird problem with skype using a headset with the 3.5mm plug-in jacks. Did a gazillion skype test calls...I sounded like Darth Vader on 'luudes! :o  I finally replaced that headset with a USB headset and BAM...solved that problem!
