Panel tray settings have no effect
« on: April 19, 2010, 12:52:04 AM »
I tried adding/removing icons in the system tray:

Right-click the system tray
Select System Tray Settings -- the System Tray Settings window appears
In the left pane, highlight Information (this is the default)
In the Icons section change the tick marks, or even remove all of them
Click OK

Nothing seems to have changed in the system tray.
Or am I missing something?

TIA

Um odd

The only thing I can think of is maybe it needs to refresh? It should not have to.

But have you tried loging out or rebooting after you make a change to see if it takes affect then?

Hi eager2no;

Just to clarify, when you say "In the Icons section"  are you referring to the Plasma Widgets section?

If so, try and select just one - say the Weather Forecast one - and see what happens.

Also, I've noticed I already have a couple of them in my panel already (Device Notifier and Paste) even though they are "unticked" in the Plasma Widgets area
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

No, I am referring to the Information section, and within it, the Icons heading, with four tickbox options underneath.

What I actually try to achieve is creating a new panel that is a duplicate of the default panel. The default panel has four icons in the tray: Klipper, the connection icon, Volume Control, and the notification icon.
The tray in my duplicated panel still misses Klipper and the connection icon, and I don't see a way to put them there.

Okay, gotcha!

Have you had a look/play in the "Autohide" section (just below the Info section)

Okay, gotcha!

Have you had a look/play in the "Autohide" section (just below the Info section)
The new panel is set to autohide (the default panel is always visible). In the new panel, in the "Autohide" section (just below the Info section):
Jobs & Notifications: option ticked
System Tray Icons: KMix, klipper, net_applet listed and on Auto
Setting these 3 icons to Always Visible still doesn't show klipper and net_applet in the tray, even if the entire panel is set to be always visible.
Setting KMix to Hidden duly hides the icon in the tray.
 ??? :o :(
