2010 KDE4 Minime installed into the 8GB SSD module of my EeePC 701SD without any drivespace issues, and is operating quite well on that machine. Installation of same into the EeePC 701 and 4G models, however, is proving to be considerably more problematic for me:

must be split between the internal SSD and the SDHC cardreader; otherwise, there'll be only 700MB of drivespace remaining, and for many common purposes that amount is insufficient. In the past, I had placed /tmp /var and /home onto an 8GB SDHC card (for the Minime 08 install into my original 701); however, with experience gained I next adopted the practice of placing /usr and /home on the SDHC instead, and this worked out quite well for my Minime 09 installs.
With the advent of 2010 KDE4 Minime though, much has changed. As I observed that this particular desktop environment causes inexplicable constant background disk write activity, I decided to avoid use of the 4GB internal SSD entirely and install the system completely onto an 8GB SDHC card instead (as a similar layout had already succeeded on my 701SD unit.). Unfortunately however, as the above link now documents, all efforts in that direction have so far failed - thus causing me much grief and worry.
