LXDE "PC" button problem (solved)
« on: April 17, 2010, 01:33:11 PM »
Hi all - I'm running LXDE 2010 in live mode on my desktop pc at the moment - When I click the "PC" menu button in the bottom task bar, it only causes the task bar to flash briefly, and doesn't display the applications.  If I right-click it, it gives the normal menu settings options.  I did a search for this problem in the forums but no hits :(  BTW, running the LXDE live cd in my old Thinkpad works perfectly.

Any ideas?  Otherwise, it's a nicely polished, responsive o/s - I really like it!  PC specs are pretty standard - AMD 3400+, 2 gb ram, ATI 9600 agp.  Thanks for your help!

Hi p^h,
Questions: Did you check the md5sum on the download? Did you burn the CD at slowest speed? Did you run the media check from the CD's boot menu?
Describe your hardware, please.

Menu button is working here, both live and installed. That is, I can't recreate your error.

Thanks for the quick reply, Neal.  md5sum checks out, & yes on the slow burn speed (8x, as slow as K3B will let me go).  I'll prob just burn another cd & report back with results & more info later.  Thanks!

Well, media check says ok, so rebooted with the original CD.  Everything's working this time - must have been a fluke boot  :P   I've rebooted into the live cd a couple times now with no issues.  Using it at the moment, in fact.  Sorry to get everyone worked up - hopefully that's the end of it...

Scoundrel, I guess I was just being over-specific - lol.  Thanks all for your replies :)

Okay. Taking "unknown menu bug" off my list. Whew!
