PCLinuxOS 2010 Desktop Display issue
« on: April 16, 2010, 05:10:07 PM »
Hi,

I've downloaded and installed the pclinuxos-kde-2010.iso  . I installed it on my Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop. It installs fine but when I'm clicking to open up a window like the desktop configure screen my screen goes black and there is just a small white cursor to the top left of the screen. It seems to be happening random, but it does seem to happen after I click on something. It seems like Linux is still running because if I do CTL-ALT-DEL it switches to the shut down screen. I've tried re install and got the same result. I even tried the pclinuxos-minime-2010.iso  and got the same result. I will probably go back to the 09 version since I did not have this issue. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Laptop model is Toshiba Satellite Pro A15-S129

Supposedly, the noblank.sh script should have corrected that problem.

If you are brave enough to edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, look for the "Device" section and then change Option "DPMS" to Option "DPMS" "false".

I made the changes and this seems to have fixed the issue. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Go PCLinuxOS!
