New 2010- final .iso with KDE desktop

Installing 2010 final did not detect USB printer (installs of 2010 beta DID, however.)
After boot, system does not recognize/mount new USB devices (ie: Thumbdrive, iPhone, etc)

BTW - Don't know if this is relevant or not.... Looking for errors on boot.. and when booting 2010Final, the output that appears on the display starts well indented and wraps  almost every line during startup.  Even the output before "press I for interactive......" is wrapped.  Really hard to scan for errors - but i don't see any RED -   so I think all is OK.  All else seems perfect.

Thanks in advance, all

Yes, the same here with my HP printer. Then again, smurfslover adviced me to install task printing which is installed but i see in Synaptic that the size is 0Kb for all the vendors mentioned. There seems to be lacking something.

Try to enable usb support in your bios. USB works in all of my systems. If that doesn't work then PCLinuxOS isn't compatible with your hardware. Try another distribution.

Tex -
Worked fine in 2009
worked fine in 2010 beta 1
worked fine in beta 2

Now hardware incompatibility?  I mean, I sure didn't get into the Bios when installing 2010!

I am formatting the "root" partition every time
I'm assuming the Linux swap partition can't hold any config data
third partition is jmjolunted at /home and I'm not formatting it.

Any thoughts?

I don't have any idea. Maybe try another the 2.6.33.2 kernel?

Try editing /etc/sysconfig/printing to

ENABLE_QUEUES_ON_PRINTER_CONNECTED=yes
AUTO_SETUP_QUEUES_ON_PRINTER_CONNECTED=yes
AUTO_SETUP_QUEUES_MODE=waitforgui
AUTO_SETUP_QUEUES_ON_PRINTERDRAKE_START=yes
USER_MODE=recommended
ENABLE_QUEUES_ON_SPOOLER_START=yes

New 2010- final .iso with KDE desktop

Side Note: I installed and used multiple versions and desktops (KDE, Gnome)  of the 2010 betas (1,2)

Installing 2010 final did not detect USB printer (installs of 2010 beta DID, however.)
After boot, system does not recognize/mount new USB devices (ie: Thumbdrive, iPhone, etc)

Here are results of lsub and fstab

[root@localhost ~]# lsub
bash: lsub: command not found
[root@localhost ~]# fstab
bash: fstab: command not found
[root@localhost ~]#

BTW - Don't know if this is relevant or not.... Try a correct command, in place of the one highlighted above.

[root@localhost ~]# lsusb
Old-Polack

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

Well, setting up the printer through the control center didn't work as normally but i got it recognized now. In Printer setup there is the tab options on top of the screen where you can choose between expert mode or configuring automatic "something" (sorry i am using the Dutch interface now) When i choose configuring, a screen pops up and the first two options where unchecked. One of which is automatic detection of connected usb printers. I checked both options and after that the printer is now recognized but not printing....
Hey at least the beast is known now  ;)

I also could not get my HP Laserjet printer recognized.  It's connected through a Prolific IEEE-1284 usb adapter cable.  Thanks to the suggestions here I was able to check that it is seen through lsusb.  So I checked the expert mode in the printer setup window.  Still not found so I checked the option to input the url. I found that it gives a window where you can input the url, but not knowing that I clicked the arrow at the bottom and found that it was detected here.  Clicking that enabled the formerly unseen printer and allowed me to set it up.  Maybe that will work for you as well. ;D
