Experienced sound problems with 2010 Gnome that may be related to this: After watching some youtube videos the sound from Rhythmbox was muted until I closed the browser.

seems the problem may be the sound card.  i booted the livecd to a different machine and had no problem.

odd thing is that i get sound to the desktop, but not to the browser.  i have an alternative sound source on that machine; i'll switch to that next time.

i haven't, texstar.  thank you, i will when i get back to that machine.  in the meantime i'm enjoying running from the livecd booted to ram as i want to see how much it will take before it keels over and i boot the the installation i did from it.  so far i have two browsers with loads of tabs open desktop config and about five games - nice selection by the way.  this is with 2gb ram and no sign of even hiccupping yet.

There is a strange issue with the Linux Firefox browser but it is not specific to hardware or distro (also suse2010). I'm sure others have noticed that after about 24 hours Firefox sound fails. Up until PCLOS 2010 the system sound would stop too. However with PCLOS 2010 the system sound works great and Firefox sound is restored by closing and restarting the browser.
