After spending numerous hours I came to NO result.
I have searched the forum, and see that I am not the only one who has the same problem ( beta1 and 2 ).
I came across a post from oldlippie, followed up, but ....no go
I googled, nice to read, lots to learn, but didn't help me.
Now I am tired of it.
It worked in 2009.2 and it doesn't work anymore
That's all.
Instead of changing DNS, I will use numeric values in synaptic where applicable.
Problem solved....sorry, read: shelved.
OP, thanks a stack for trying to help me.
PS, I used your file for comparison and even replaced mine with yours....no go

@ menotu

Thanks for the card.

Hi Xenaflux, what happens if you delete all connections again, configure your connection with the most simple Ethernet > Dsl, dhcp, detect all automatically, and after you click next to get the connection, you check the content of the log ?

This is in /var/log/messages, you could do as root something such as:
Code: [Select]
tail -n 50 /var/log/messages
and bring back what it states, incase that could help see what the problem comes from.  I didn't try minime 2010 in a real machine yet, just in vm and the connection is done without me configuring it, but the host now uses bind instead of a dns external server. I don't use opendns anymore, as lately it was becoming slow, and some buddies on chans has told me the same.

If I can try Minime 2010 in my laptop next, with a wired connection, I'll come back say how it goes.

I gave it one more shot.
I downloaded and installed Mandriva-one.
The behavior there is exactly the same as in PCLOS.
So, it's probably not a pclos thing.

Now I rest the case.

@ melodie.
Thanks for trying to help. I will " maybe " try in a few days, but now I got other things to do

Whenever you want. In the meanwhile, I'll boot a usb pendrive as soon as I can as well.  :)

Did you tell us what your Ethernet card is ?

Have been running KDE Minime 2010 on EeePC 701SD for a couple of days - noticed now, following cold boot, that upon launching GKrellM I see only one user indicated.  Interesting... 118MB of memory in use; 1899MB remaining - system set up during install to boot with following parameters:  nosmp, noswap, norestore, vga=314, splash=silent.  / partition 8GB, installed on /dev/sda1 ReiserFS; /home installed on 16GB SDHC card as /dev/sdb1 ReiserFS.

System seems to be running smoothly, with no problems yet encountered.  GUI feels noticeably more responsive than previous 2010 beta 2 install on faster Acer laptop - desktop switching is snappier; tab-switching in FireFox also quicker.  In 2010 beta 2 install on Acer, resizing a running instance of SMPlayer causes the playback to pause momentarily; in performing same manouevre on Minime 2010 EeePC 701SD install, I observe the pause to be somehow conspicuously absent - even when playing directly from a slow old 1GB USB stick.  In short:  much better.  Best implementation of KDE4 I've seen yet.  Well done indeed, and worth waiting for!

Downloading E17 now - still waiting patiently for Openbox.  Wish to try those out on two separate EeePC 4G models; compare.

Can you point me to the mirror your downloading from as heanet and nluug haven't fully synced yet.

Many thanks.

Yes; I noticed that... started from nluug, got incomplete copy - attempted again from pclosusers, got another incomplete copy - attempting nluug again now, as currently listing size at 650MB... hoping that's finally going to be it?  Wondering if there shall be an E17 Minime version...?
