Changed Monitor - how to get plug n play to work?
« on: April 09, 2010, 02:06:38 PM »
Just installed a new monitor (new to that system, at least) to a PCLOS install.  How do I get HAL/PCC/xorg.conf to autodetect the monitor and configure xorg.conf correctly?

I plugged in the monitor and rebooted.  It worked with the xorg.conf for the prior monitor.

Opened PCC, Set up the graphical server and looked at the monitor options.  This specific model was not listed nor did I see a way to force plug n play.

Rebooted to a command prompt and started PCC from the graphical interface, same story.

For the time being I have selected the closest monitor but would like to have the correct monitor set to be certain I have the correct configuration settings in xorg.conf.

The monitor is a Viewsonic A91f+.  The closest listed in PCC is an A90f+.

The video card is a motherboard ATI chipset.

TIA,
